Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 25.25 oz DeLallo marinara sauce
  • 16 oz DeLallo Gnocchi
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 1/3 cup chopped basil (optional)

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Measuring spoons

Method

  1. Begin by heating 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Allow the oil to warm up for about a minute.
  2. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 30 seconds, or until fragrant. Be careful not to let it burn.
  3. Pour in the entire jar of DeLallo marinara sauce into the skillet, stirring well to combine with the garlic. Allow the sauce to simmer for a few minutes.
  4. Add the 16 oz package of DeLallo gnocchi directly into the skillet. Stir to coat the gnocchi with the sauce, and allow it to cook for about 3-5 minutes, or until the gnocchi starts to float to the top.
  5. Layer the sliced fresh mozzarella over the top of the gnocchi. Cover the skillet with a lid and let it cook for another 3-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Once the cheese is melted, remove the lid and season the dish with salt and black pepper to taste. If you’re using basil, sprinkle the chopped basil over the top.

Notes

  • Keep an eye on the garlic while sautéing; it can turn from golden to burnt very quickly.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, let it simmer a bit longer before adding the gnocchi.
  • This dish is best enjoyed fresh, but it can be reheated if necessary. Just add a splash of water to loosen it up.
