Ingredients

  • 1 pound green beans (cleaned and ends trimmed)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium)
  • 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon chili garlic sauce (like sambal oelek)
  • 1 tablespoon chili oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (toasted)

Equipment

  • Large skillet or wok
  • Spatula or Wooden Spoon
  • Measuring spoons
  • Knife and cutting board

Method

  1. Start by cleaning the green beans. Rinse them under cold water to remove any dirt, then trim the ends with a sharp knife.
  2. In a large skillet or wok, heat the sesame oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Once the oil is hot, add the minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant.
  4. Toss in the prepared green beans. Stir-fry them for about 5-7 minutes, or until they turn bright green and are tender-crisp.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, dark soy sauce, honey, chili garlic sauce, and chili oil.
  6. Pour the sauce over the sautéed green beans and toss everything together. Continue to cook for another 1-2 minutes.
  7. Remove the skillet from heat and transfer the Asian Green Beans to a serving dish. Sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds on top.

Notes

  • These green beans can be prepped ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
