  • 1 large Egg
  • 1/2 cup Gluten-Free Bread Crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon Sriracha adjust to taste
  • to taste Salt and Black Pepper
  • 6 leaves Green Leaf or Iceberg Lettuce

Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Food processor
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Serving plates

Method

Instructions:
  1. Step 1: Sauté the Onions - In a skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable or olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced yellow onion and a pinch of salt. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the onions are caramelized and golden brown. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. Step 2: Prepare the Avocado Crema - In a mixing bowl, combine the ripe avocado, sour cream or Greek yogurt, lime juice, and a pinch of salt. Mash everything together until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
  3. Step 3: Mix the Burger Ingredients - In a large mixing bowl, combine the sautéed onions, Mann’s Power Blender mix, minced garlic, drained black beans, egg, gluten-free bread crumbs, sriracha, salt, and black pepper. Using your hands or a spatula, mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  4. Step 4: Form the Burgers - Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and shape them into patties. Make sure they are compact to avoid crumbling during cooking.
  5. Step 5: Cook the Burgers - In the same skillet used for the onions, add a little more oil if needed and heat over medium-high. Carefully place the patties in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and heated through.
  6. Step 6: Assemble and Serve - To serve, place each black bean burger on a lettuce leaf. Top generously with avocado crema. You can also add any additional toppings you like, such as sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, or extra sriracha for heat.

Notes

  • For a vegan option, omit the egg and use a flax egg as a binder.
  • To make the burger gluten-free, ensure the bread crumbs are certified gluten-free.
  • Adjust sriracha to make the burgers milder or spicier.
