Cooking Instructions:
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Step 2: In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, black sesame powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Step 3: In a large bowl, beat the unsalted butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Step 4: Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, stir in the vanilla extract and soy sauce.
- Step 5: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Step 6: Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Step 7: Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Step 8: Sprinkle a few black sesame seeds on top of each cookie for an added crunch.
- Step 9: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes.
- Step 10: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
Notes
- For a more intense black sesame flavor, toast the black sesame seeds before grinding them into powder.
- These cookies can be made ahead of time and frozen for up to 3 months.
- Feel free to experiment with different types of chocolate chips.
