Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon chocolate chips

Equipment

  • Mug
  • Measuring spoons
  • Fork or whisk
  • Microwave

Method

  1. In your favorite microwave-safe mug, whisk together the 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour, 1/8 teaspoon of baking powder, and 1 tablespoon of sugar until well blended.
  2. Pour in the 1 tablespoon of melted butter and 1 1/2 tablespoons of milk to the dry mixture. Mix until all the ingredients are combined and no dry flour is visible.
  3. Gently fold in the 1 teaspoon of chocolate chips, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  4. Place the mug in the microwave and cook on high for 40-60 seconds. Start with 40 seconds, then check the cake. It should be set but still slightly moist in the center. If needed, continue microwaving in 10-second intervals until done.
  5. Let the mug cake cool for a minute before digging in. You can top it with a scoop of ice cream, a dollop of whipped cream, or enjoy it plain!

Notes

  • Overmixing can lead to a tough cake; stir until just combined.
  • Use a large enough mug to prevent overflow while cooking.
  • If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
