Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 lb chicken tenders or chicken breasts cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 12 pieces wooden skewers soaked in water
  • to taste Fresh thyme or parsley for garnish

Equipment

  • Skewers
  • Mixing bowl
  • Grill or grill pan
  • Meat thermometer
  • Serving platter

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the sugar, salt, ground cinnamon, fresh thyme leaves, white pepper, minced garlic, and olive oil. Stir until well mixed, creating a fragrant marinade.
  2. Add the chicken tenders or cut chicken breasts to the marinade, ensuring each piece is well coated. Cover and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  3. While the chicken is marinating, soak the wooden skewers in water for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Once the chicken has marinated, thread the chicken pieces onto the soaked skewers, leaving space between each piece.
  5. Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill the skewers for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until cooked through.
  6. Remove the skewers from the grill, let them rest for a few minutes, and garnish with fresh thyme or parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For a low-sugar alternative, use honey or maple syrup instead of sugar.
  • Try turkey or tofu for a different protein source.
  • Add bell peppers or zucchini for extra nutrition and color.
