Ingredients

For the Meatballs:
  • 2 slices white bread torn and crust cut off
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 3 tsp dried basil
  • 3 tsp dried oregano
  • 3 tsp dried parsley
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp granulated onion powder
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Meat thermometer

Method

Preparation Steps:
  1. Start by tearing the white bread into small pieces and placing it in a bowl. Pour the milk over the torn bread and let it soak for about 10 minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, soaked bread mixture, eggs, Parmesan cheese, dried basil, dried oregano, dried parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, kosher salt, and pepper. Use your hands to gently mix the ingredients until everything is just combined.
  3. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Take a small portion of the meat mixture and roll it between your hands to form a meatball about the size of a golf ball. Place each meatball on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or lightly greased.
  4. Once all the meatballs are shaped, place them in the preheated oven and bake for about 20-25 minutes or until they are browned and cooked through.
  5. Remove the meatballs from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes. Serve with spaghetti and marinara sauce or in a sub sandwich.

Notes

  • Store cooked meatballs in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze cooked meatballs for up to 3 months for future meals.
  • Use ground turkey for a leaner alternative if desired.
