Ingredients

For the Flat White:
  • 1 shot espresso or strongly brewed coffee
  • to taste sweetener optional
  • 1 cup whole milk

Equipment

  • Espresso machine
  • Milk frother
  • Coffee grinder
  • Thermometer
  • Cup or glass

Method

Directions:
  1. Step 1: Brew Your Coffee - Start by brewing a single shot of espresso using your espresso machine. If you don’t have one, you can also use a French press or Aeropress.
  2. Step 2: Sweeten (Optional) - If you like your coffee sweet, add your desired sweetener to the hot espresso. Stir it gently to ensure it dissolves completely.
  3. Step 3: Steam the Milk - Pour 1 cup of whole milk into a steaming pitcher. Use a milk frother to heat the milk to around 150°F (65°C), incorporating air to create microfoam.
  4. Step 4: Pour the Milk - Once your milk is steamed, let it settle. Pour the milk over your espresso, starting from the middle and moving outward for latte art.
  5. Step 5: Enjoy! - Your flat white is now ready to be savored. Take a moment to appreciate the aroma before taking your first sip.

Notes

  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
  • Reheat gently; avoid boiling to maintain flavor.
  • Using fresh milk each time ensures the best texture.
