Total Time 25 minutes
Servings: 4 servings
Course: Side Dish
Cuisine: Healthy

Ingredients

  • 1 cup quinoa rinsed
  • 2 cups water or broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt optional

Equipment

  • Rice Cooker
  • Measuring cups
  • Fine-Mesh Strainer
  • Spoon or spatula

Method

  1. Start by measuring out 1 cup of quinoa. Pour it into a fine-mesh strainer and rinse it under cold running water for about 1-2 minutes.
  2. Once rinsed, transfer the quinoa to your rice cooker. Add 2 cups of water or broth to the pot. If you’re using salt, sprinkle in 1/2 teaspoon now.
  3. Close the lid of the rice cooker and set it to the 'white rice' setting. If your rice cooker does not have this specific setting, just select the regular cook setting.
  4. Allow the quinoa to cook. The rice cooker will automatically switch to the 'keep warm' setting when the quinoa is done, which usually takes about 15-20 minutes.
  5. Once the quinoa is cooked, open the lid and use a spoon or spatula to fluff the quinoa gently. Serve immediately or let it cool for meal prep.

Notes

  • Make sure to rinse the quinoa thoroughly to avoid any bitterness.
  • If you're meal prepping, consider making a larger batch and storing it in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  • Quinoa can also be frozen! Portion it into freezer bags and store for up to three months.
