Ingredients

For the French Toast:
  • 1 cup vanilla ice cream melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 8 pieces Texas Toast or your favorite bread
  • Butter for cooking
  • Maple syrup for serving
  • Berries for garnish
  • Additional ice cream for serving (optional)

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Griddle or skillet
  • Spatula
  • Serving plates

Method

Preparation Steps:
  1. Begin by melting the vanilla ice cream in a large mixing bowl. You can do this in the microwave for about 20-30 seconds. Once melted, add the eggs, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon. Whisk everything together until the mixture is well combined and smooth.
  2. Place a griddle or skillet over medium heat and add a generous pat of butter. Allow the butter to melt and coat the surface evenly.
  3. Take a slice of Texas toast and dip it into the ice cream mixture, ensuring that both sides are well-coated. Let any excess batter drip off before placing it onto the hot griddle.
  4. Cook each slice for about 3-4 minutes on one side or until it turns golden brown. Flip it over gently and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes on the other side.
  5. Once the French toast is cooked, transfer it to serving plates. Drizzle with maple syrup, top with fresh berries, and, if you’re feeling extra indulgent, add a scoop of ice cream on the side. Enjoy your Ice Cream French Toast while it's warm!

Notes

  • Feel free to use any flavor of ice cream you love for a unique twist.
  • Substitute Texas Toast with brioche or gluten-free bread for different textures.
  • For a healthier version, use whole grain bread and fresh fruits instead of syrup.
