  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 10 Tbsp cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 Tbsp dried parsley

Method

Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda until well combined.
  3. Add the cubed cold unsalted butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or a fork, cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese and dried parsley, mixing until evenly distributed.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, 2 tablespoons of water, and egg until well combined.
  6. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined, adding more water if necessary.
  7. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead until it holds together, patting it into a rectangle about 1-inch thick.
  8. Cut the dough into small squares or triangles, about 2 inches in size, and place on a baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
  10. Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before serving.
