Ingredients

  • 2 ounces fresh basil leaves (about 2 bunches)
  • 10 ounces butter (softened)
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon grated Romano cheese
  • 1 pound fresh linguine or angel hair pasta
  • 1 pound medium shrimp (peeled and deveined)

Equipment

  • Large pot
  • Skillet
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Measuring spoons
  • Colander

Method

  1. Begin by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil. Once boiling, add your fresh linguine or angel hair pasta and cook until al dente, according to package instructions. This usually takes about 3-5 minutes for fresh pasta. Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the softened butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant but not browned. Then, add the shrimp to the skillet, seasoning with salt and black pepper. Cook the shrimp until they turn pink and opaque, approximately 3-4 minutes.
  3. Once the shrimp are cooked, lower the heat and stir in the fresh basil leaves, Parmesan cheese, and Romano cheese. Mix well to combine all the flavors and let the basil wilt slightly, about 1-2 minutes.
  4. Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the shrimp and sauce. Use a wooden spoon to gently toss everything together, ensuring that the pasta is well-coated with the buttery herb sauce. If the mixture seems too dry, you can add a splash of pasta water to loosen it up.
  5. Plate the Shrimp Christopher, and sprinkle additional grated Parmesan cheese on top for garnish. You can also add a few extra basil leaves for a pop of color. Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade Olive Garden experience!

Notes

  • Make sure to cook the shrimp just until they turn pink to avoid rubbery texture.
  • Taste your sauce before serving and adjust the salt and pepper as needed.
  • Fresh pasta offers a delicate texture that pairs beautifully with the sauce.
  • Reserve some pasta water to help create a silky sauce if needed.
