Panda Express Cream Cheese Rangoon Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons scallions thinly sliced
  • to taste garlic powder optional
  • 48 wonton wrappers
  • Vegetable shortening or oil for frying

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Frying pan or deep fryer
  • Slotted spoon
  • Paper towels
  • Small dish of water

Method
 

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sliced scallions, and garlic powder (if using). Mix until well blended.
  2. Take a wonton wrapper, spoon about 1 teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture into the center, moisten edges with water, and fold to seal.
  3. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable shortening or oil in a frying pan or deep fryer over medium-high heat.
  4. Carefully place a few rangoons in the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
  5. Remove fried rangoons with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For a seafood twist, add crab meat to the filling.
  • Seal the edges of the wonton wrappers properly to avoid oil leakage.
  • Fry in batches to prevent overcrowding and ensure even cooking.
