Instructions:
- Step 1: Prepare the Veggies - Heat a skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of avocado oil. Once hot, toss in the sliced red peppers and onions. Sprinkle with ½ teaspoon salt and ½ teaspoon pepper. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until tender and slightly caramelized. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Step 2: Form the Patties - In a large bowl, combine ground beef with ½ teaspoon salt and ½ teaspoon pepper. Mix gently, then divide into four equal portions and shape into patties slightly larger than the buns.
- Step 3: Heat the Flatrock - Heat your flatrock or griddle over medium-high heat. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of avocado oil and spread it evenly.
- Step 4: Smash the Burgers - Place the patties on the hot flatrock, leaving space in between. Smash each patty down firmly to create a thin layer. Cook for about 3-4 minutes without moving.
- Step 5: Add Cheese and Veggies - Flip the burgers and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Add sautéed peppers and onions on top. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until done.
- Step 6: Toast the Buns - Drizzle 1 teaspoon of avocado oil on cut sides of buns. Place them cut side down on the flatrock for a minute or two until golden and crispy.
- Step 7: Assemble your Burgers - Start with the bottom half of a toasted bun. Add the cheesy burger patty topped with peppers and onions, then finish with the top half of the bun. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Feel free to swap ground beef for turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
- Try different cheeses like provolone or mozzarella for a unique twist.
- Use whole grain or gluten-free buns for a healthier alternative.
