Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, Old Bay seasoning, garlic powder, dried parsley, and cayenne pepper (if using).
In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter and buttermilk. Slowly pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and gently fold together with a silicone spatula until just combined.
Fold in the shredded sharp cheddar cheese until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Using a large spoon or ice cream scoop, drop heaping tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them a couple of inches apart.
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown on top.
While the biscuits are baking, combine the melted butter, garlic powder, and salt in a small bowl.
Once the biscuits are out of the oven, brush the tops generously with the garlic butter mixture.
Sprinkle the freshly chopped parsley over the biscuits and serve warm.
