Ingredients

For the Cake:
  • 9 whole graham cracker sheets for that classic s'mores crunch.
  • 2 cups whole milk rich and creamy, to make the pudding.
  • 1 box instant chocolate pudding (5.9-oz) for a luscious chocolate layer.
  • 20 snack size Hershey chocolate bars chopped for a delicious addition of chocolatey goodness.
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix the base of our scrumptious cake.
  • ½ cup butter melted to bind it all together and add richness.
  • 1 bag large marshmallows because what's s'mores without marshmallows?

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • 9x13 inch baking dish
  • Whisk
  • Spatula
  • Oven mitts

Method

Directions
  1. Step 1: Preheat the Oven - Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures that your dump cake bakes evenly and thoroughly.
  2. Step 2: Prepare the Graham Cracker Layer - In your baking dish, layer the 9 whole graham cracker sheets at the bottom. This crunchy base will serve as a wonderful foundation for your cake.
  3. Step 3: Make the Chocolate Pudding - In a mixing bowl, whisk together the 2 cups of whole milk and the entire box of instant chocolate pudding. Stir until the mixture thickens, which usually takes about 2 minutes. Once thickened, pour this chocolate pudding over the graham cracker layer in your baking dish.
  4. Step 4: Add the Chocolate Bars - Sprinkle the 20 chopped snack-sized Hershey chocolate bars evenly over the pudding layer. This will add pockets of chocolatey goodness throughout the cake.
  5. Step 5: Mix the Cake Batter - In a separate bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix with the melted butter. Mix until combined. The batter will be thick, but that’s okay! Spread it gently over the chocolate layer in your baking dish.
  6. Step 6: Top with Marshmallows - Take the entire bag of large marshmallows and arrange them evenly on top of the cake batter. Don’t be shy; these marshmallows will melt and create a fluffy topping that’s quintessential to s'mores.
  7. Step 7: Bake - Place your baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until the marshmallows are golden brown and the cake is set. Keep an eye on it to prevent the marshmallows from burning.
  8. Step 8: Cool and Serve - Once out of the oven, let the Smores Dump Cake cool for a few minutes. This will help it set slightly before serving. Cut into squares, and serve warm for the best experience. Enjoy the gooey, chocolatey, marshmallow-filled goodness!
