  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika adds a depth of flavor
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder for a mild sweetness
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder a must-have for seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon cumin brings warmth and earthiness
  • 1 teaspoon coriander adds a citrusy note
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper for a touch of heat
  • to taste Salt and pepper to balance the flavors
  • 2 cups Mexican cheese for that melty goodness
  • 1/4 cup cotija for a crumbly texture
  • Cilantro chopped, to garnish and add freshness
  • 4 cups french fries the perfect base

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Baking sheet
  • Spatula
  • Oven

Method

  1. Start by heating the canola oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the ground beef. Use your spatula to break it apart and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Once the beef is browned, drain any excess fat. Then, add the chili powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, cumin, coriander, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine and let the spices cook for about 2 minutes to enhance their flavors.
  3. While the beef is cooking, prepare your french fries according to the package instructions. If you prefer homemade fries, slice and season them as desired, then bake until golden and crispy.
  4. Once the fries are ready, spread them out on a large baking sheet. Layer the seasoned beef evenly over the fries, followed by the Mexican cheese.
  5. Place the baking sheet in the oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Remove the Taco Frachos from the oven. Sprinkle the cotija cheese and chopped cilantro over the top for a fresh finish. Serve immediately while the cheese is gooey and the fries are hot!
