Ingredients

For the Base:
  • 8 ounces refrigerated crescent rolls Look for the full sheet crescent dough if available for easier handling.
For the Creamy Topping:
  • 4 ounces cream cheese Softened (reduced-fat or full fat, your choice).
  • 1 cup sour cream You can use light or full fat depending on your preferences.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill Chopped, for that aromatic touch.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives Chopped, adding a mild onion flavor.
  • Salt and pepper To taste, ensuring the flavors pop.
  • 2 cups chopped assorted veggies Think broccoli, bell peppers, carrots, green onion, cucumber, or any favorites you have on hand!

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula
  • Knife and cutting board

Method

Instructions:
  1. Step 1: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure your crescent rolls will bake evenly and reach that perfect golden-brown color.
  2. Step 2: Open the package of crescent rolls and unroll the dough onto your baking sheet. If you have the full sheet dough, simply press it into a rectangle, making sure to seal any perforations.
  3. Step 3: Bake the crescent roll base in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes or until it is golden brown and fully cooked. Once done, remove it from the oven and allow it to cool completely.
  4. Step 4: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, chopped dill, and chives. Mix until smooth and well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Step 5: While the dough is baking, chop your assorted veggies into bite-sized pieces. Feel free to use any combination you like, depending on what you have on hand.
  6. Step 6: Once the crescent roll base is cooled, spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the top. Then, sprinkle the chopped veggies generously on top of the creamy layer.
  7. Step 7: Using a sharp knife, cut the assembled pizza into squares or triangles. Serve immediately, or refrigerate until ready to serve. Enjoy the fresh flavors!

Notes

  • Use reduced-fat cream cheese and light sour cream to cut down on calories.
  • Opt for a thinner layer of cream cheese mixture to decrease fat content.
  • Increase the amount of veggies for a more nutrient-dense appetizer.
