Total Time 10 minutes
Servings: 4 servings
Course: Condiment, Spread
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons milk
  • Optional flavorings herbs, spices, or sweeteners

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Electric mixer
  • Spatula
  • Storage Container

Method

  1. Start by allowing your unsalted butter to soften at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  2. In your mixing bowl, add the softened butter and the milk. If you’re planning to add any optional flavorings, now is the time to mix them in!
  3. Using your electric mixer, beat the butter and milk on medium speed for about 2-3 minutes until light and fluffy.
  4. If the whipped butter is too thick, gradually add more milk, one teaspoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.
  5. Taste your whipped butter and adjust flavor with a pinch of salt or other seasonings. Mix again to incorporate.
  6. Transfer the whipped butter to your storage container. Serve immediately or refrigerate for later use.

Notes

  • Store whipped butter in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
  • Freeze for up to three months in a freezer-safe container for longer storage.
  • Let refrigerated whipped butter soften before serving for easy spreading.
