Once the chocolate and butter are melted, add the sugar, milk, and heavy whipping cream to the saucepan. Stir continuously to combine all the ingredients.
Increase the heat to medium-low and continue to stir the mixture. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce is thickened and has a glossy, smooth texture.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Mix until fully incorporated.
Allow the sauce to cool slightly before transferring it to a heatproof container. It can be stored in the refrigerator for later use.
